What & Why PPE?
An interdisciplinary foundation for leadership in a complex world
PPE - Politics, Philosophy, and Economics - is an interdisciplinary field of study that brings together three powerful ways of understanding the world. By examining political systems, ethical frameworks, and economic forces side by side, PPE equips students to analyse complex global issues from multiple perspectives.

At its core, PPE develops analytical reasoning, ethical judgement, and critical thinking — skills that are essential for leadership in an increasingly interconnected and fast-changing world. Philosophy sharpens moral and logical reasoning, Politics offers insight into power and governance, and Economics provides tools to understand markets, incentives, and global systems.

First formalised as an academic degree in the early twentieth century, PPE has since become one of the most influential interdisciplinary frameworks in higher education. Its graduates and practitioners have gone on to shape public policy, institutions, and intellectual life across the world, including UK Prime Ministers and Nobel laureates.

The Young Scholar Program draws inspiration from this intellectual tradition, offering high-achieving students an intellectually immersive experience that challenges assumptions, sharpens judgement, and cultivates the habits of mind required for leadership in a complex world.
